Picking an order

Picking is one button at a time. At the bottom, in big letters, there’s always the next step. Do what the button says and the button changes by itself.

The order of steps, always the same

Comenzar preparación (Start picking) → Escanear productos (Scan products) → Preguntar al cliente (Ask the customer) → ¿En cuántos bultos va? (How many packages?) → Dónde quedó el bulto (Where the package went) → Validar la preparación (Validate the picking)

«Preguntar al cliente» only appears if something was missing.

The order’s time

Every order has a badge with its time: «faltan 12 min» (“12 min left”) or «18 min tarde» (“18 min late”). Green means you’re on time, amber means it’s about to be late, red means it’s late. Handle the red ones first.

Next to it is the time promised to the customer: «para las 8:19 p. m.» (“by 8:19 p.m.”). There’s only one, the one the system gives, and it’s the same in the list, in the order details and on «Es tuya» (It’s yours).

Picking order S96310 in Zentrix Work: «Faltan 2 por recoger» (2 left to pick), the badge «faltan 41 min · para las 8:19 p. m.» (41 min left · by 8:19 p.m.), «Preparando» (Picking), «Entrega en el mostrador» (Counter handover) and «Llevas 1 min» (1 min so far); below, «Café molido 250 g» (Ground coffee 250 g) at 1/1 and «Vino tinto reserva 750 ml» (Reserve red wine 750 ml) at 0/2, and the «Escanear productos» (Scan products) button.
An order halfway through picking: what’s left, the promised time and each product with its count.

1. Start

Open the order from the call or from the list. Tap Comenzar preparación (Start picking). The order is now in your name and the customer gets a notice that you’re picking it.

2. Scan the products

  1. Tap «Escanear productos» (Scan products).

The camera opens. If the light is low, use the flashlight.

  2. Scan each barcode.

The app tells you how many you have: «X de Y» (“X of Y”). When it’s complete: «ya tienes lo pedido» (“you have everything ordered”).

  3. If it won’t scan, type it in.

Tap A mano (By hand) on the scanner, or the keyboard next to the button at the bottom.

With no signal, your scans are saved on the phone and upload by themselves when you’re back online. If anything is still saved at the end, the button says Subir … escaneos guardados (Upload … saved scans).

Expired or expiring lot

If an amber card shows up with a lot, do what it says: «Agarra otra caja» (“Grab another box”), «Revisa la fecha antes de recogerlo» (“Check the date before you pick it”) or «Avisa al encargado» (“Tell your manager”). With Cambiar lote (Change lot) you choose another one.

3. When something isn’t there: «No hay»

  1. Open the product’s line and tap «No hay» (Out of stock).

The app asks «¿No hay?» (“Out of stock?”). Tap Sí, no hay (Yes, it’s out).

  2. Check the replacement.

The system suggests an equivalent: «Anotado. Equivalente sugerido: …» (“Noted. Suggested equivalent: …”). The line stays marked «No hay», in plain sight.

One question per order

Mark every missing item before you ask. The Preguntar al cliente (N faltantes) (Ask the customer (N missing)) button asks once about all of them.

4. Ask the customer

Tap Preguntar al cliente (Ask the customer). The message goes out by itself; you don’t type anything. «El cliente ya tiene la consulta de los faltantes. Su respuesta destranca la validación.» (“The customer has the question about the missing items. Their answer unlocks validation.”) Meanwhile, keep going with the rest.

5. How many packages?

Count the bags or boxes you packed and enter the number. You don’t need to say which product goes in which. Confirm with Van en N bultos (It’s N packages).

If you already printed labels

Changing the number makes the old labels invalid: peel them off and reprint the full set.

6. Where the package went

Put each package on the rack and tell the app which position: «Bulto 1 de 3 — ¿en qué posición del rack lo pusiste?» (“Package 1 of 3 — which rack position did you put it in?”). It asks one package at a time.

No position, no validation

Every package needs its position before you validate. If they all show «ocupada» (“taken”), don’t make one up: tell your manager.

7. Validate the picking

  1. Tap «Validar la preparación» (Validate the picking).

The app tells you how many packages and how many missing items there are. «Sale del inventario y no se puede deshacer desde el teléfono.» (“It comes out of inventory and can’t be undone from the phone.”)

  2. Tap «Sí, validar» (Yes, validate).

If something doesn’t add up, Todavía no (Not yet).

  3. Stick on the labels.

«Recoge la etiqueta de la impresora y pégala al bulto.» (“Take the label from the printer and stick it on the package.”) Tap Listo (Done).

If it won’t let you validate, the app tells you why, in the system’s words. If it’s waiting on the customer’s answer, leave the order and move on to another one: it unlocks by itself when they reply.

If you have to drop the order

In the Más (More) menu, tap Dejar este pedido (Drop this order). Choose the reason under «¿Por qué lo dejas?» (“Why are you dropping it?”) and tap Dejar el pedido (Drop the order). It goes back to the store’s queue for another teammate.

It worked if…

You see «Preparación validada.» (“Picking validated.”), every package has its label and its spot on the rack, and the order has left your list.
